Worship Service: June 28, 2020

As we continue re-gathering this week, the church has taken several measures to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, including removing chairs and rearranging the remaining chairs for distancing. We have hand sanitizer and masks available, and the windows in the sanctuary will remain open during our services to increase ventilation. The offering plate will remain at the back of the sanctuary. (Online giving here.) We also have modified our service order and will be singing for a shorter amount of time, and we have moved all of our singing together to the end. As always, though, we will still pray together, sing together, and listen to God’s Word being preached together.

We will record the service and post it on Youtube and Facebook after the service has concluded.

Since we will not be printing the worship guide yet, the format has been modified to make it more tablet/phone friendly. You can download it here:

he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
    and gently lead those that are with young.

This is our order of worship for Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Calvary Community Church:

Call to Worship & Prayer
Psalm 91:1-2, 14-16
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Quiet Preparation
Psalm 37:3-7 (NIV84)
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;

who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways!
You have commanded your precepts

CALL TO WORSHIP & PRAYER — Psalm 122:1, 96:6, 8-9  ESV
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth!

CALL TO CONFESSION  Psalm 22:23-24
You who fear the Lord, praise him!
All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him,
and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!
For he has not despised or abhorred
the affliction of the afflicted,
and he has not hidden his face from him,
but has heard, when he cried to him.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON — Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
